I have a cordless phone. I just plug my cordless phone into the Magic Jack, and I am good to go. I have never used the computer to talk on the phone. I suspect it is because I wouldn't even know how to do this. This is one of the reasons I don't even have skype. I have a talking caller ID which also plugs into my cordless phone. Even if one purchased Magic Jack service for 20 dollars annually, for 5 years that would amount to 100 dollars? So, I really don't understand the complaints. The ability to choose between the different plans is on the site so one isn't forced to purchase the 5 year plan. But you can understand why the more expensive plans would be encouraged. If I ran a company perhaps I would as well. Further, perhaps if one purchased Magic Jack from Wal-Mart or from radio shack perhaps the ability to choose ones desired plan might be easier. I especially like the feature which sends your voice mail messages to your computer for permanent saving, and the different folders within the voice mail itself so you can sort the voice mail messages you receive into work, family, friends folders ETC. Some friends I have have purchased Magic Jacks and sent them to Africa so their friends can call this country free. I have a great cell phone plan too. So, I sort of can choose which to talk on all the time, My cell phone or my Magic Jack; and my cell phone battery lasts for days without charging. I was thinking of moving from verizon to t mobile because I heard t mobile has for 59 dollars a plan which allows unlimited talk and roaming. I am paying that now for 11 numbers I can call free any time on my friends and family list. This is particularly fine if one has to call freedom scientific or gw micro's technical support and one is put on hold or one takes quite a long time to resolve some exotic technical problem. Or if one calls the Para-transit bus service and is put on hold for a considerable time. As I have been in the past. One can't always call from home. Particularly if one works. I will get one more bonus number toward the beginning of this year. Having migrated from Alltel, and 1200 any time minutes excluding my 11 free numbers. Plus free nights and weekends. I have paid verizon an extra 50 dollars to cover roaming. Should I leave the state. I can call anywhere within my state without roaming charges, and to some places in west Virginia. But, who wants to call west Virginia anyway. HA Ha. Smile. But, I don't like being tethered for at most two years to a contract. On another list I heard verizon has a better infrastructure should we be faced with a disaster. Also, I don't know about whether the accessible phones available will force one to purchase a data plan. I heard this was so. I don't like being coerced in to doing anything just because we want reasonable accessibility. I just make calls on my lg390. I have an MP3 player from where I play music if I go out, and I send and receive text messages from other cell phones on my computer. It would be very nice if some one could tell us how long those batteries last on those more accessible phones, and whether if one purchased the even more individual plan from t mobile whether one just must purchase one of those fancy phones to have reasonable accessibility. As one can't use the lg phones with t mobile. The point is here, I think, that one must analyze ones needs and purchase a service accordingly. There are those who don't even have land lines at all and seem to get along just fine. My daughter and her man are two such. Their service is t mobile. Enjoy your Magic Jack. Remember despite what I say it can always be returned if you don't like it for some reason. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Kliph" <phantom3...@yahoo.com>

Hello, it's Kliph From F I D. Do you know of any short cut keys for magic
jack? And do you always have to dial threw the computer, or can you do it
from your phone? I just picked it up yesterday, and at set up, they did
everything they could to try and get my credit card number. I declined
everything, but 59 bucks for 5 years is better than paying 100. Thanks for
your help!

Subject: [Blind-Computing] More Magic Jack information:

I wrote ken a private message. But, I am writing this to the list because I didn't want the list to think I was trying to mislead anyone concerning the product or the service. I wasn't aware of this Gold/platinum plan. As far
as I was aware there were only two plans available. The basic garden
variety 20 dollar annual plan, and what I gather now to be the Platinum plan
which offers 5 years of service for 59 dollars. Unfortunately, I assume I
will have to pay 69 dollars when 2013 roles around. But, that too might
change. anyway, I assume the two together, the device and the five year
plan would cost 100 dollars. I assume this was what Ken was charged. I
looked on the knowledge base and discovered though his credit card was
charged immediately for this plan, it would be refunded should he return the
product. If this isn't done he can always file a disputed charge with his
credit card company. Meanwhile he can try the product, and if he doesn't
like it and it is returned, or if he doesn't use the entire 5 years of he
has paid for there is a way those years can be refunded. I didn't read that
particular article however. I tried to contact customer service to no
avail. But, even they have to get some shut-eye sometimes I suppose.
