Hi Stanley, I had no problems uninstalling Avast through the control panel on 1 computer, but on the other hand on a different computer I had all kinds of problems. I had to reinstall Avast a couple of times on the one computer before I finally got it uninstalled through the control panel. Both computers were pretty close to being identical with what programs and operating systems were installed. That is why it was very puzzling as to why it was easy with one and a royal pain with the other. You probably should try uninstalling it through the control panel because if you have any problems you can restore it back from the the recycle bin. That is how I did it and finally got Avast uninstalled. Hope this helps. Take care. Hi. I would like to uninstall Avast 4 Home Edition and have downloaded their uninstall utility. But I understand that this will have to be done in safe Mode, and I have Windows XP Professional SP3 on my machine. I also understand that I won't have Jaws when I uninstall Avast. What is the best way to uninstall Avast. I would like to go with Microsoft Security Essentials as my replacement. Thanks.
