It looks like your Windows Media Player was updated on your computer to
Windows Media 11. However, the problem is that when you or someone initiated
this update, Windows Media Player update removed the earlier version. This
could have been that System Restore was off at the time.
What often happens is that when Media Player is updating, a message telling
you that your system restore is turned off will appear. This is so because
if your System restore is off, your earlier version will be deleted
including the registry settings that may help you roll back any update on
your system. If you proceed to update, while the update will be successful,
you will not be able to roll back any update. So this just helps that
whenever you wish to update, make sure system restore is on or that you are
prepared to use your new updated version for good or for worse like in a
marriage! <grin>
As for the Windows Media Format Runtime, do not delete those files. They are
important in managing media files on your system. Even other third-party
applications or other rival programs use these to handle media on your
system.
My suggestion would be that you download that earlier version from the
Internet and install it. You would have to remove Windows Media Player 11
from the control panel first before installing this earlier version. This is
so because the earlier version may refuse to install as you would have the
latest version.

Hello, I am trying to get rid of media player 11 and it said I cant roll
back because the files are already deleted. If this is so, how come the
media player is still on my computer? It won't allow me to choose an
earlier version like media player classic as my default player. So how do
I rid my computer of media player 11? Also does the program "windows
media format11 run time" have something to do with the windows media
player11? If so, should I try to delete it before I try to delete media
player11? I am not sure and I did not want to delete something if I am
not sure! I never had windows media tell me I cant delete it before.
