Hi,
Then what it means is that you should consider installing another media
player such as KLite Megapack Full
(http://pgsql.cdpa.nsysu.edu.tw/cpatch/media/k-lite/klcodec630f.exe)
which comes with Media Player Classic Home Cinema. Simply make that program
the default player for all your media files.
As for deleting, this won't work that way because while you would have
successfully deleted Windows Media Player files from your disk, your
registry will still hold important information about it. Also remember that
this is one of the critical apps on your system which may be protected by
the WPF. This will consequently affect the performance of your system.
Just leave it like that: once you have configured a new player to handle
your media files, it won't get into your way. Windows Media Player is one of
the default programs that come with your operating system, so you cannot
remove it from the Add/Remove list box: just click on Add/Remove Windows
Components for that. (To access this, just go to Add or Remove Programs in
the Control Panel. Then when the list box with your installed programs comes
up, just tab until you come to a button simply labelled "Change or Remove
Programs", now arrow down to "Add/Remove Windows Components button" and
press the spacebar to bring up the list of Windows components you can remove
from your system. Fortunately, Windows Media Player is one of these.
However, I suggest that you leave it alone: it won't affect your computer in
any way as long as you set another program to do its job).
Hope this helps,
Ishe

Subject: [Blind-Computing] deleting media player 11, ghost in the computer
My friend installed media player 11 after he reinstalled windows xp
professional. I wanted to know if I delete my media player from the
program files on the c drive, would that be okay? I found media player by
doing the following: start minue, control escape, r for run, c:\ for the
drive, p for program files, w for windows media player. It is on the
drive and I cant seem to get it to uninstall from the add remove programs.
I did properties and it said it was installed on August 5th at 1 PM., the
day I had my windows reinstalled. It is acting weird, ever sinse I got
it, if I play a file in the media player and close the media player, the
file still keeps going even when the media player is closed. I even look
in the tasks minue to see if it is still running somewhere, it cant find
it. So I have to reopen the file and hit control p to make it stop
playing. Or I have to take the cd out if it is playing from the cd
instead of just closing mediaplayer. I am starting to think my computer
has a ghost in it. Heather
