Hi Trish,
The default in that dialogue is a radio button that says always prompt for
an action,
but if you down arrow once, you will find a different radio button that says
select an action to perform.
Once you have the select an action to perform, radio button , checked
it becomes the new default, and you can set different actions based on the
content types on the drive.
Example:
Mixed content , could be set to open to view files and folders in Windows
Explorer,
while music could be set to play in your available media player, and
pictures set to take no action.
As for the checkboxes on the general tab, those can just be left alone.
HTH,
Rick Justice

Rick,

I was doing all this as this email came in. I found the list you mentioned,
but it meaning the selection I just arrow to the one to take no action, I
did do an apply on it and ok as well.
I noticed also on that page a check box that will not uncheck which says
something like, always prompt for an action or something like that.

On the General tab, another item was checked which I left it checked, but
was to do with indexing. This one responded with spacebar to check/uncheck,
but the other one on the Audio tab would not.

Maybe since I did the apply and ok it will stay at that setting.

Thanks,

Trish

Hi Trish,
Go to My Computer, and locate your Seagate in the list of drives.
While you have it selected, go to the properties of the drive, and move to
the Auto-Play tab.
You will be presented with a list of content types, and as you tab thru the
dialogue you will see how to select an action for each type.
You will have to repeat the steps for each type in the list.
I keep it simple, and select, take no action for all, so I am not
interrupted with a dialogue when working on something else.
If you need more assistance, just sing out.
HTH,
Rick Justice

I have this device and when I first plug it into my USB slot, a long list of
stuff pops up wanting to know what I want to do.
I always arrow down to the "take no action" tab to ok and it's gone.
I would like to know if there's some way that this doesn't keep popping up
asking me every time?

sThanks,

Trish
