Also, if you use a backup program like cobian backup, this also will provide a shutdown feature when completed.

I normally run my backups at the end of the day before turning in. What I do is start them out and when Replicator is finish the batch file shuts the system down. The other manner you could accomplish this task is to make a good guess as to when the job in question will be finished and set the system to shut itself down at or slightly after that time. A few years ago I was at my daughter’s home. We were all outside and there was a loud explosion. When we got into the home we found that the computer’s power supply exploded. At least there was no fire but what an ugly sound and smell.
