Hi Rick and others,

Coming in a bit late on this thread but...

How about resetting IE8, which will take it almost back to the way it was
when your computer was new. I'm saying "Almost" because you can configure
the reset not to delete favorites and such (details are on reset page). A
reset of IE is useful for exactly these types of situations.

1. Launch IE then go to tools > Options > control shift tab to Advanced tab
 > tab to reset... and press enter.
2. Read the page thoroughly to get an understanding of what is going to
happen; especially regarding deleting personal settings. I do not think this
deletes cookies.
3. When you're confident you really want to do this tab to the Reset button
and press enter.
4. Wait a few minutes for the reset to complete.
5. When the process has completed, launch IE once again, and you should be
presented with the same installation questions as when you first installed
INTERNET EXPLORER 8.

Hi.
If you click okay do you get any settings?
If so set them to how you want them and that should take care of that.

Subject: [Blind-Computing] Search Provider Error Message In IE8

Hi All,

I keep getting the message below every time I open IE8.

Internet Explorer - Search Provider Default A program on your computer has
corrupted your default search provider setting for Internet Explorer.
Internet Explorer has reset this setting to your original search provider,
Live Search (search.live.com).
Internet Explorer will now open Search Settings, where you can change this
setting or install more search providers.
 OK

A security scan has been run, & found nothing. Also, there are no
unfamiliar programs installed on this computer. Any ideas on how to fix
this, pain in the ass, whoops, I mean but! All help will be graciously
accepted! Thanks much, take care.
Mike
