Picking a god is generally strongly advised. The god you choose
influences quite a few different skills you will eventually want
to have regardless of class combination.
There are non-combat related aspects, such as crafting and
mining, but in general you do require a certain amount of combat
to proceed, especially in the early game.

Are ALL players forced to convert at some point or only clerics, which would make sense since they need favor to play? Also, can players choose NOT to do much combat in Alter? If so, this might make it appeal to those looking for a social MUD. On Mar 31, 2022 12:01 AM, Richard Sherman <[email protected]> wrote:
HI, As I understand it, the pantheon Of the gods is just that, a group, or the whole lot of them. So when your sacrificing something its to all the gods. So not sure how such a command would be useful. But when your converting to a single god all you sacrifice is to them. Everything you sacrifice, except corpse, should count towards converting. And you can type convert while in the process giving you a gauge On how much you have left till you are converted. Note: at some point the game will basically force you to choose a god To see all the gods there is type gods. From there you can profile a god and see what their all about. Some are evil, some are good. So you will want to take into consideration what your alignment will be when choosing. The best thing to keep in mind is your cleric level. As you gain those it will take more material to be sacrificed when converting. And as a cleric your going to need favor to play properly. So you might want to do jobs to earn such favor. Thus you might want to convert to a god who has a lot of priests. And that being the main 5 gods there are; Dentin, Shadowfax, Draak, Morpheus, And gandor. But by all means convert to what ever god you like. If it is not working for you then renounce and convert to another one. The gods that aren't interested have been getting unacceptable sacrifices offered them as part of the pantheon so likely shouldn't even appear on the list.
