Why not incorporate both types of racing? If you are the driver of a top
fuel dragster, conditions are different as is the driving style and the car.
Driving a sprint car on a dirt track is different than driving the same car
on a paved oval. Driving that same car on a road course would be different.
Fact is, the setup of a sprint car is designed so that left turns are the
only ones made. The tires on the right side are wider than those on the
left for that very reason. One of the aspects of ESP Raceway was that you
could choose from a dozen or so different tracks and there would be
different weather conditions. I think that you could use one of several
different cars, but am not sure about that for certain. With Nascar as the
theme of the game, only 1 car would be used on different tracks, but are all
tracks paved? USAC (United States Auto Club) racing is done on both dirt
and paved ovals, so the drivers have to contend with both types of racing
conditions. That is how I think that Raceway should be. I believe that an
anual series of races, IROC, (International Race of Champions) is based on
the same idea--12 professional drivers drive identically prepared cars in
different length races on different tracks, ranging from road courses to
dirt and paved oval tracks ranging from 2.5 miles to half-mile lengths.
Each race poses different challenges for the driver, requiring different
techniques.
