You need to use a drill bit, drill a shallow hole in the head of the screw
and then use the screw removal tool to extract the tool by turning it
counterclockwise. The threads on those items are reversed so they'll bite
into the screw going counter-clockwise.

Subject: [BlindHandyMan] Screw removal tool

Hi Folks,

Has anyone had any experience with this little tool? They're for removing
screws whose heads have been stripped. It's shaped like a nail-set, with
threads about the bottom inch. I bought a set of these things... Apparently
you need the correct size for the screw you're attempting to remove.
You're supposed to place it in a drill, and screw them into the head of the
stripped screw-head. You're then, somehow, supposed to be able to reverse
the drill and draw the screw out. But, I can't get the procedure to work.
All I seem to accomplish is to spin the thing in the screw head, making a
stripped screw-head even worse. Obviously, I'm doing something wrong. Any
thoughts?
