Edward,

Thanks for the unsolicited parenting advice. How many kids do you have again?
I am really sorry your father abused you. I am never quite sure which thing to
say when someone's says something like this.

Ok, actually I do not think spanking is automatically abuse, but I do wonder
what kind of response someone expects to a comment like this. I can tell you
that pain is not a deterrent for my kids. My eight year old actually will
stand at the top of the stairs and go all loose to fall down the stairs on
purpose. he thinks it is funny. Every kid is different. a little swat kept
my sister in line and well behaved. I on the other hand never took a spanking
as anything but being hit. My grandfather never hit me and always said I was a
very well behaved kid. My mother regularly spanked me and had to keep doing it
over and over.

  Subject: [BlindHandyMan] outdoor water faucet

  Hi all,

I've followed this thread with interest and, frankly, I think you're all
looking at the problem the wrong way. First, we need to identify the
problem. Once this is done, the solution becomes very simple. The problem
is not the faucet but, rather, it is the children. The faucet doesn't need
modification. The children need an attitude change. My dad's favorite
attitude changer was his belt. He had a simple approach to most problems
involving misbehaving children. Identify the problem, apply the attitude
changer, repeat if necessary. It worked for me and my siblings and every
other kid in the neighborhood in which I was raised. Give it a try. I
think you'll be surprised at the results.

  Take care,
  Ed
