If it is or not I suggest you obtain a written contract.

Subject: [BlindHandyMan] Hiring a contractor

I am being pressured by my homeowners insurance company to get a new
roof installed. My question is , is it standard procedure to have a
roofing contractor supply a written contract ? Another thought is does
that roofing contractor need to show you a liability policy or is
that roofing work covered under your home owners policy. Originally I
was going to get a cheaper job done as I want to sell and move up out
of this valley but after rethinking this I will get the better grade 30
year shingles once suggested by Dale. Oh, toss in one more question.
that roof ridge vent . do you know if those are taken off during the
new job or does it need to come off and be replaced. thanks Lee
