Hi Bill,
I don't like the power drain openers. A friend used one and it broke a weak
drain line.
Just like using a plunger most people use it incorrectly. The clog is being
packed down and by pushing with a plunger it even more compacts the clog. When
using a plunger slowly push it down and quickly pull it back making a vacuum
pulling the clog back.
Whenever I have a bathroom drain clog I use , don't laugh, duct tape and my
shop vac.
I put a piece of duct tape over the overflow part of the sink and then hold a
damp rag around the shop vac hose making a fairly air tight seal around the
drain. The shop vac pulls the junk out of the drain. I then fill the sink with
water and add a cleaning agent such as tsp and let it slowly drain. I then
repeat the process with the drain closed and let the cleaning solution run
through the overflow .
I have been doing this about once a year for the past ten or so.
Good Luck
Lenny
