We have a window ac unit, it froze up, because the temperature outside was
alot cooler....in the 70's. The unit has done this before and we would put
it on fan only and\or shut it off for a while and the ice has gone away. This
time, we have had it shut off for 5 hours yesterday, and the temp outside
was in the 80's. Last night we put it on fan only, and kept the ac on
overnight the air that is coming out is ice cold!!!!!! This morning, I shut
it off, in hopes that it will defrost itself, so we can switch it back to
cool setting. Do you have any idea why the unit is blowing such ice cold air
when it is on fan only??It has been shut off now for 6 hours and the temp
outside is almost 90...........I turned it on fan and it is still blowing
cold air. Also, when we hit the power button, the ac does NOT go off, also,
when the unit froze, it was on power saver. Could the mode part of the ac be
broken? In other words, no matter what button you push......either cool or
energy saver, or fan only seems to do the same thing right now.........COOL
