Hi John,

I don't think I have ever seen anything like that before, let me understand it
better.

Is the slot then like a sliding dovetail? I mean is it wider at the bottom with
the sides sloping in to form a narrower top?

Is it maybe an inverted 'T' slot, that is, stepped so that there is a wider
bottom slot than the top?

The 'T' sort often use a wheel which projects beyond the edges of the bar and
fits into the wider 'T' part of the slot and serves to hold the miter gauge
down into the slot so it can't raise up and out.

Typically though these are still 3 8ths deep and three quarters wide with the
wheel or bearing somewhat wider.

Subject: [BlindHandyMan] miter gauge for Hitachi saw?

I'm trying to find a better miter gauge for my Hitachi table saw, but
my slots seem to be nonstandard. My present gauge is 14 inches long
and 5/16 inches thick. The bottom of the bar is 5/8 inches wide and
the top of the bar is 7/16 wide. The bottom is 3/16 thick and the
top part is 1/8 thick. Does anyone know where I can get one? I have
googled it and looked on some of the sites but they all seem to sell
  the standard size.

  John
