OK John, I give up!
It seems that no one makes after market products for the Hitachi table saw. I don't know if all of their models use non-standard mitre slots but should I ever replace my old saw it won't be with one of those! I never thought to have to consider that as an option. That has implication for loads of things. I have now two feather boards which I mostly use on my router table but occasionally on the table saw which would not work on yours and a tennoning jig and I use my saw mitre gauge on my router table sometimes as well. What a damn shame! I do note that Hitachi do sell mitre gauges but it isn't clear that they are any better or even different than the one that came with the saw. As you say, this is not the only manufacturer with non-standard slots.
