OK John, I don't think it is really so non-standard.
Unless I am very much mistaken you can use a standard 3/8 thick by 3/4 wide bar in that table top. I have a tennoning jig I use on my old Rockwell-Beaver table saw which I bought a couple of years ago. The leading tip had one of those wheels to fit into the 'T' slot which I had to remove since my saw doesn't have that feature. It fits fine. There are other devices made including mitre gauges with the bar cut to slide into the slot but not many. They are probably superior in that they can't climb out of the slot and the slot permits more secure attachment of hold-downs if you have that capability. I have only seen that arrangement on table saws, never on a router table for example although I have bought some aluminium 'T' slot channel for holding my fence down onto the router table I made it is machined to fit into the more usual 3/4 by 3/8 channel so the inside dimensions are that much smaller. I'll have a look but it will probably have to be on the Web too since what is available here locally is very limited. I can probably make a couple of calls too just to verify all that. Dale, your second example is more accurate. All of the edges on the bar are square. It is definitely nonstandard, as I have found, doing some more reading. Skill, Craftsman and others did it to their saws, too. earlier, Dale Leavens, wrote: >Hi John, > >I don't think I have ever seen anything like that before, let me >understand it better. > >Is the slot then like a sliding dovetail?
