The directional ambiguity can be resolved with a whip antenna and a special 
phase detecting receiver.  But this is getting too complicated and anyway, 
who wants to walk around a park looking like Robbie the robot.  I think the 
simpler acoustic solutions that have been offered are much better.  They are

simpler, easier, and cheaper.
