I have to relate this because I'm certain at least one other member of the list can relate. When I initially went totally blind while living in Wheaton, IL. I contacted the Illinois department that is mandated to assist folks dealing with this sort of thing -- I think it was called Department of Rehabilitation Services (DORS). I had asked about learning how to do some of the normal home maintenance tasks such as sweat soldering because I had a project in play at this time. I was told by an "expert trainer" that it wasn't possible. I should have known better!
