Larger units in gas for under 500 bucks only had an efficiency of 64 percent for whole house usage. The whole house electric units would run cheaper than gas at such a low efficiency. It seems almost a sin to buy a unit or offer a unit to say "save" and offer only 64% efficiency. Best deals on gas units start at over a thousand bucks. Best units if money is not a problem start near 3 grand each. If I don't do anything right away the deals will change and I'll have to re-check at that time.
