I think I know what you mean, but i am not sure any of the prefinished hardwoods, or engineered hardwoods would sound different. The stuff we looked at, even the hard wood, felt very plastic like on top. Must be how they can get a 50 year finish warranty. and that stuff isn't cheap either, saw some for 175 per 25 sq feet.
