Scott: Yes, they have rotating brushes on the bottom, and side brushes as well. We had three dogs and a cat, and my wife sheds too, and the thing seems to do pretty well with hair. You probably would have to empty the hopper after each use, but if you run the thing every day, it seems to keep floors (hardwood anyway) pretty clean.
