We saw them do a does it work type demo on the news here of the robotic vacuum. They were not impressed with the fact that it took 24 hours to charge for one use. But they said that it did pick stuff up. I think they even let it do the sock test. One thing they said, which wouldn't matter to us blind folks was that it covered the same area a lot and that you almost had to leave the house or area, because watching the thing would drive you nuts!

My understanding is they are kind of more a sweeper machine than a regular unit that would use more air than the sweeeping ability to get the floor clean. Subsequently, they also don't handle dog hair very well as I understand. My wife and I were kind of interested in one of these, but with 2.5 German Shepherds in the house, that's a crap-load of hair for any machine to handle.
