Remove all furniture. From there it depends on how the carpet is installed.
If indoor/outdoor type glued down you have a bit of a job, get under a corner
and just work it up.

If held down with tackless you can get a kicker and stretch the carpet to
unhook it from the tackless or you can cut the carpet all around the perimeter
about two inches from the walls and it will come out as one piece except for
the bit left on the tackless but this will come off easily enough.

hi list in my bedroom there is a carpet that needs to be taken up. what is
the best way to do this should I remove the furniture and cut the carpet in to
pieces or can I just cut around it and do this with out removing the furniture
in other words I move the furniture a little bit and cut up the carpet as I
move furniture around?
  all help will be appreciated.
  thanks so much.
