I'm going to put in a high efficiency furnace here in the near future, that
much looks like a certainty. The question is between the models I have to
pick from everything is the same except furnace 1 has a 2 stage gas valve
where furnace 2 offers a variable gas valve. Furnace 2 would cost around
$400 more or so. Supposedly it will only supply as much gas as is required
for the heat demand in question varying up and down in the process. The
contractor himself said he has put several in already but as they are quite
new on the market he has not received any feedback on them yet. He's the
same guy who installed my central air in 2006, so I know his work is top
notch from my own experience. If anybody knows anything about these systems
with a variable gas valve let me know your thoughts on the matter. They
sound impressive but I'm wondering if such a model would be worth the extra
expense, of course this is a long term investment kind of a deal I realize.
