WE have a house which was built in 1927. It's a basic wood structure having a basement and two upper floors. Originally, it was heated with a coal furnace but we now have forced air burning natural gas. The windows on the first floor are a mix of newer thermol double paigned windows and old double-hung windows, some with outer storm windows some without. Those on the second floor are old double-hung windows with outer storm windows.
I'm thinking about replacing the old double-hung ones with new thermol windows and was wondering if anybody here knew much about the eficacy of doing this. Is it possible to calculate how long a replacement job like this would take to pay for itself in terms of energy usage? And, am I right in assuming that this is the sort of rehab that probably would pay for itself if you were to sell the house? Also, anybody know if there are tax credits for this? I think there are, but thought I'd ask. Thanks in advance for any knowledge. Bill Stephan Kansas Citty MO Email: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Phone: (816)803-2469
