Yes, this is  how mine are constructed.  I had thought about WD40 or silacone 
spray but I'm a little hesitant cause I just know that stuff is gonna get on 
the glass at some point.
Maybe I'll have the sighted housekeeper do this so she can clean it up 
immediately.
