Percent grades are used only for small angles where the length of the hypotenuse is almost equal to the length of the bottom leg of the right triangle. A 100 percent grade would be where the two sides are equal. If the hypotenuse is 60 inches long the length of the two equal sides would be 60 divided by the square root of 2 which is 42.43 inches.
