Intermatic and others made the 12 hour timers used on whole house fans. They also had other in various time length down to one or five minutes. Electrical wholesale distributers handle them. The five minute I put on my micro still works. The micro wave was purchased in early 1980. Yes I put one new tube and a new glass bottom so after parts became unavailable I had to use the aftermarket timer. Ain't pretty, but function follows form.
