Carol's signature response is "Did I ask you anything? Then don't tell me."
This is usually delivered with the same sweet sensual tone of voice as "keep
your hands where I can see them or  get on the ground now!"

Yeah, my wife and I have been in these situations and she says with a  
rather snide tone, "don't ask me, I'm not buy ing the stuff." Pretty  
much telling the person hey idiot, he's asking the questions not me,  
so pay attention.
