Just got a ride home from the car dealership. A few months ago I had the
coolant changed. The other day I turned the rear heat on in the van and
shortly after there was no heat in the front. The temp gage in the van
stayed at the normal position.
I assumed that there was an air lock in the rear heater that caused the
fluid level to drop. When Karen came home from a Dr. appointment I noticed
that the was little heat coming out from under the hood.
I waited about two hours until everything was cold to open the radiator cap.
Karen could not see anything in the radiator.
We quickly drove it to the dealer so they could add some of that Mopar Red.
Before they did that they pressure tested the system and all of the
remaining antifreeze is on the shop floor. It blew out around the water
pump.
I don't understand why there was never a wet spot where she parks or that I
never smelled coolant when the motor was hot and we pulled into a parking
lot.
This is the first water pump I have replaced in over 25 years, was shocked
at the $390 estimate.
