Silly me...with the water heater being 11 years old, I would consider installing a new one. ...unless it is still under warranty. In my experience, 11 years is a good life for a tank. Plus on a tank that old, the effort to extended use ratio doesn't seem to be very high and it seems like a lot of trouble for a little return....if it were a young tank, then the effort could be worth it.
