It could be a few things if this just started. First thing I'd try is taking the shower head off to rule out something suddenly blocked the passages.
Once the head is off see if you can get water to come out the pipe. If it comes out, the problem is obviously the shower head. If not, back to the drawing board. You'll have to see if there is an access way on the back side of the wall. This may have a picture frame looking trim around it. The trim will have to come off so the opening can be opened. The good news is that if you tried to run through the shower, and the water went into the tub instead, chances are that the diverter valve isn't opening allowing the water to run up to the shower head. Depending on the age of the faucet set it's usually easier and a better idea to change out the set. That is why you'll need to find the access point on the back side. ----- Original Message ----- From: Betsy Whitney To: blindhandyman-yahoogroups.com Sent: Wednesday, March 04, 2009 7:18 PM Subject: [BlindHandyMan] Scary shower problem Aloha everyone, I have a bathtub that has three knobs, hot water, cold water, and one in the center that makes the water go up and out of the shower nozzle. This morning I turn the center knob and after a very small stream started coming out of the shower nozzle, there was a very loud pipe rattling noise and no water was coming out of the nozzle. So, not believing what I heard, I tried it again and turned the knob all the way to the open position. At that point there was no water coming out of the shower nozzle, just all still pouring into the tub. What's the problem? I did listen to see if I heard water running or dripping inside the wall, but can hear nothing. Fortunately we have another bathtub, but need to get this one working again. Thanks for all your suggestions in advance, Betsy Teamwork: Together we achieve the extraordinary. [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
