Claudia, for once try good batteries of the alcaline type: Everready or some known brand.
If they work longer you've got your answer. Also don't use non-alcaline batteries, E.G. those that may be called "Heavy duty" but don't say alcaline. these are some varriant of zinc carbon cells and don't have the capacity of alcaline. They're also much more prone to leak and have much shorter shelf life. It's obvious, but be sure you're not leaving the thing where something can lay on a button and keep it pressed, that's a fine way to run down batteries, and it's so easy to do. Otherwise tell Dish it is a problem and they need to replace the remote or send you a supply of batteries <GRIN> Tom Fowle
