Rita,
It's really important that she contact a lawyer as others have 
advised, and do it soon. She really needs to stop cleaning. As you 
mentioned, the pipes may also need to be replaced and she'll be able 
to get that done also. Hopefully, she won't discover other junk work 
on things in the bathroom. She'll have to have it professionally inspected.
