Tom I strongly suspect the contractor was a close relative. It was he supervise the project and then got so upset with her, mind you, her, for not catching this dreadful mistake. Moral of the story is two fold in my mind. One have a written contract and two never do business with relatives. rita, Here in California, one would also contact the state Contractor's licensing board and file a complaint against the contractor. Presumably what ever state you're in has a similar government authority. If, one hopes, the guy is a licensed bonded contractor in that state, the threat of loss of license usually has some effect.
