Andy, we have a 33 foot aove above ground pool . I , like you found a problem in getting that last bit of debris out and still do at times and I'll tell you why. as your pool water blows back in and moves things around the last of the silt and debris usually ends up dead center of the pool . What I use most of the time before the automatic vac is the bigger vac which is hooked to a three stage pole extender and just move in and out as far as the pole will go with this pole fully extended. all from standing outside.. then if the water is warm enough I later get inside the pool at the pool stairs and then use the vac from that position. finally I just turn the utomatic loose. I totally agree . early on one needs to have someone at the poool pump as the pressure quickly rises u0p.. Also note if you are using a D E filter system you only need to use half the earth while doing this heavy vac work. good luck. we just yesterday opened up and the pool is still filling. the last 6 inches.
