Dan, I would make it a habit of measuring from the side of the shoe to the 
blade every time because the distance will be different depending on which saw 
blade is attached.  For instance, the dimension will be different from the shoe 
to the edge of a carbide tipped blade versus to the edge of a plywood blade.  
So as you can see, it will be different depending on which blade you use.
