Yes I had heard this too, he supposedly played drums on a Stanleys session
at King Studios in Cincinnati.  It could have happened...James got his start
as a drummer, did indeed do some sessions (including "Mashed Potatoes" by
Nat Kendrick & the Swans), & like most southern blacks of his generation
grew up listening to the Grand Ole Opry.

I will try to remember to ask Ralph when I see him in the spring.
