I didn't know about James Brown playing on a Stanley Brothers recording at King Records.
But I know another story. There was a rock & roll and soul artist from 1959 to 1963 by the name of Hank Ballard (and the Midnighters). Hank wrote and recorded a song for King Records, called "It's Finger Popping Time". Well the Stanley Brothers also recorded that song for King later on. I heard Ralph say that Hank Ballard and some of his friends were in the King studio when Carter & Ralph were recording their version. Ralph said that Hank and his buddies did the finger popping sounds that you hear on the Stanley Brothers recording of "It's Finger Popping Time" also on King Label. I have the record and treasure it highly.
God bless all,
Merry Christmas,
And Happy New Years,
Noland Stanley
