Dear Doris,

Thank you for your note below. And thank you for reminding me of the great version by the Stanley Brothers of "Christmas Time's a Coming". Yes, I remember. Excellent energy and feeling. I'll get it out tonight and listen to it again.

On locating the version by Bill Monroe, I would go to Dave Freeman at County Sales at:

Dave and the folks at County know everything.

Best regards. We'll talk again soon.

Thank you,

Bruce Lloyd

Dear All:

I actually had to search for "Christmas Time's a Comin'" done by my uncle

William.  I have it on a record album & a cassette-I can play the cassette tape

& it is really VERY good.  It's as good as any I'd heard even though I don't

think my tape is in top condition.  I replayed the Stanley Brothers version

also & that one can't be beat either.   I'm wondering if anyone knows of a CD

of this song by Monroe?  I've only checked a couple of places, but didn't turn

the cassette up in the form of a CD.  Thanks.....

Keep loving bluegrass & mountain music, it's the best music in the world!

Cordially your friend,

Doris.

" " One of my favorites will always be "Christmas Time's A Coming" written

" " by the famous Tex Logan, and performed by Bill Monroe and the Bluegrass

" " Boys... I forget the actual date but I remember hearing this in the late

" " 50's sometime. Bill's amazing strong tenor voice just lifted that number

" " up to the heights that it deserved, and of course Bill's mandolin break

" " was super, and forget about the fiddle break. It was just phenomenal.

" "

" " I later met Tex after he got his Phd from MIT, and was living over in

" " Morris County, NJ while he was working at Bell Laboratories. It was the

" " super hero (in this area) for bluegrass promotion work Doug Tuchman who

" " got Tex (amazing fiddle player) to come into the city to help out

" " Charlie Moore who was coming through and put on a great show in New York

" " City at New York University Law School.

" " Thank you.
