What are the chances that BMW is doing the old trick Ford did on the old
Thunderbolt's, acid dipped the doors to lighten them???

If they were dipped and then not neutralized, that could lead to such a problem.

David in Richmond, VA...showing his age by even knowing what a Thunderbolt is
LOL!!!

Collective Wisdom:
I have a small oil leak from the timing chain tension adjuster on my 01
M3. Bentley does not have a procedure for the M3, but on the M54 and M52 it
recommends 52 ft-lbs of torque and by the way the instructions read, the
adjuster can be removed and reinstalled without having to worry about
adjusting the tension or anything else for that matter.
Question is, does anybody know if the adjuster can be removed and
reinstalled with a new o-ring without needing to adjust anything, and what
is the torque it needs to be reinstalled at on the S54? OR, should I just
take it to the dealer?
