It's already there, I believe. Try setting uploadCase: true in site.config to disable the automatic conversion to lower case. Note, if you rename the files to lower case you can link to them with [^DanHackingBoltwire.jpg^] just fine, or any other variety of cases. With the uploadCase set to true, you must match the file's case exactly. It is a problem for existing sites with lot's of case sensitive files. So the easiest there is to just restore the old behavior via site.config. Let me know if this setting doesn't do that.
