Yes, setting up the .htaccess mod_rewrite engine can be a bit confusing.

For most sites that are only using the wiki code, the setup is fairly
straightforward.

It gets more complex when you have other content on the site.

I have written documentation on this, I will get my hands on it and add it
to the CleanURL info.

It really makes the wiki easier to use.
