Hi everyone, out of some despair I'd like to ask whether anybody knows what is wrong when a SqueezeBox Boom keeps showing "MAC not set"? I have purchased one recently, hoping a reset to factory defaults or a Xilinx reset would fix it. However, the problem persists. In addition to the MAC message, I have made the following observations:
* the MAC address is currently 80:00:80:00:80:00 (got that from my DHCP server and this is consistent with what the SqueezeBox shows in the settings) - used wired LAN because there is no way to get WiFi working * despite the message, it is possible to ping the device, but Telnet / SSH access fails * the display has four permanent horizontal lines which are always illuminated. This is not about the heater wires but the display itself shows all pixels of the lines on. The lines all have the same distance from each other so that feels more like a software issue than hardware * the former owner mentioned that the unit died in degrees, first having audio dropouts and digital garbage in the audio signal, and eventually refusing to work in the way described * removing the WiFi board causes the message "Wireless card not installed" but it alternates with the "MAC not set" message * connected via ethernet, I get the choice of connecting to my Logitech Media Server, but selecting that won't succeed * the SqueezeBox Web interface never offers the Boom for device selection So far, nothing helped. There are no apparent hardware defects such as leaking caps or burnt-out components. I was the first one to disassemble the unit. Unfortunately I have no means of service manual or any idea how to use JTAG debugging here due to missing documentation. Anyone ideas? I have another working Boom, but I would not know where to start comparing them. Thank you and best regards Joe ------------------------------------------------------------------------ JoeMuc2009's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=23131 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=104987 _______________________________________________ Boom mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/boom
