Windows, Linux and BSD know Joliet. I have not worked with a CD on a
UN*X for ages. Is there actually only Rock Ridge supported today?

Level 2 allows it ([A-Z._]+ up to 31 characters).

You can make an ISO image with both Rock Ridge and Joliet extensions to
serve all (mkhybrid and I believe the new mkiso as well). I would not
stick with ISO 9660 to forfeit all convenience of "free" file names,
which boost has no in the filesystem...
