You're bifurcating, again.

EITHER advocate OR build cool tools,
with the assumption that they are mutually exclusive,
that doing one must neccessarily exclude the other.

There's a concept in game theory called "win-win"
that seems to be eluding you.

If everyone does what they think is cool, whether it
be scripting, testing, documenting, training, or
<gasp> advocacy, then everyone in the community wins.
