new york has it too. queens in particular is very large and composed of
many neighborhoods and you use those names in the address and not
queens. i don't know if there are duplicate streets and numbers like in
boston.

brooklyn on the other hand is considered one large city and you use
brooklyn in the address. manhatten is addressed as new york, ny (so nice
they had to name it twice!) even though it is only one of 5 boroughs of
nyc.

these oddities are from historical reasons where cities grew by
incorporating neighboring towns and areas and they had to keep those
older names to handle address duplications and conflicts.
