Hi Kathy, It's up to HumanWare to determine how the parts will be used. If anybody wishes to buy a new unit, God Bless them. I'd never tell someone how to spend their money, or even for that matter, someone else's. If the difference between transplanting and getting a new unit was less, I'd probably go for that, but $4000 is a big difference. What about people who are unemployed or underemployed and want the ability to take advantage of the new technology? How will they come up with $6000? Even if the government was funding the purchase, do you really think counselors would spring for a second unit? In most cases, I doubt it. Rather than focusing on what individuals do here, wouldn't it make more sense to encourage HumanWare to use the parts and provide used BrailleNotes at a discount for those who want to take advantage of the technology, even if it's the classic units? That's what is at issue here. You see, as a customer, I wouldn't go out and sell the unit myself, I cannot provide a warranty of any kind. However,HumanWare could choose to provide some sort of warranty on re-conditioned or used units if they chose to do so, but as an individual, I cannot do that. So that's where your expressed concerns should be addressed, to HumanWare and not to individual customers. Best Regards,

So then what you folks are saying who are taking advantage of the Transplant offer is that it is worth $2000 to you to get a new plastic case, system board, and software upgrade put onto your old, used Braille display and have a used mPower from the start. You're not concerned that you won't be able to sell in a competitive market with all mPowers because buyers won't have any way to know what they are buying regarding the most expensive component, the display. And you don't care that you are tossing out a perfectly good and functional voicenote at the same time which could be used by someone else or at the very least parted out to help those less fortunate than yourself to upgrade to a better unit. This still looks like a lose win situation to me where the winners are at Humanware, but I guess I'm still missing something since by virtue of my not participating in this deal, I'm apparently not a "loyal customer" worthy of "reward". ___ To leave the BrailleNote list, send a blank message to [EMAIL PROTECTED] To view the list archives or change your preferences, visit http://list.humanware.com/mailman/listinfo/braillenote
