Dear Terri,

Thanks for the refresher, though I was aware of these commands and do use them,
there are many new people on this list who could use the information and didn't
know it. My suggestion had more to do with taking everything, or almost
everything, in the file manager, and making it part of the word processor/book
reader. It's easier for many BN users to choose from a menu than it is to
remember commands like control+read+r, for instance.

Sarah

Dear Sarah,

Although move, rename and erase aren't in the KeyWord menu, you can still
use all of these functions in KeyWord. Pretend you want to open a document.
Cycle through the list of files until you find the document you want to
move, rename or erase. Instead of pressing enter, press control i to erase
it, control r to rename it and read control m to move it. Once you are in
the list of files, you can use the help menu to review these commands.

: First, I'm sorry my suggestion caused such consternation, I really don't
want the BN to look or act like Windows, even though Windows is
second-nature for me. Here is what I was thinking.
: The word processor and book reader already have the following choices in
their menus: create, open, emboss, print, and set up. My thinking ran along
the lines of adding things to these menus, like copy file, rename, erase,
move, protection, translate, and so on. This would in no way affect the
current functions of the word processor/book reader, one would still be able
to jump into the application and open a file in the usual ten seconds. I
wish I understand why this concept seemed so scary, I would think this would
streamline the whole process beautifully. But, there are an awful lot of
people on the planet who don't think like I do, thank goodness, so I'm
curious to hear anyone's thoughts on this subject.

: Dear God!
: PLEASE DON'T COMBINE BOOKRE.ad, WORDPROCESSOR, ETC.!
: The Keysoft Menu is concise and easy to learn. I can get into a book in
about ten seconds!
: For some folks on this List, (like Richard) the current Keysoft Menu may
seem tedious. However, for the "average" user, it is safe and fast. I've
gone into the File Manger and erased, learned the space on a CF card, to
name a few tasks, and find it so much easier than using Windows and a PC.
